Top 50 European Growth Companies 2010

Northern Ireland based pharmaceutical company Norbrook Laboratories Ltd has been listed in the Top 50 European Growth Companies 2010.
The accolade, which was presented by former German Chancellor, Gerhard Schroder at an awards ceremony in Brussels, was awarded to entrepreneurial companies whose “ingenuity, hard work, perseverance and capacity for innovation have shaped a successful and growing business, significantly contributing to the creation of new employment and prosperity in Europe.”
Lord Ballyedmond, Chairman and CEO of Norbrook Laboratories Ltd, commented: “To be listed among the Top 50 companies in Europe for generating sustainable growth and jobs is an outstanding achievement for Norbrook and one for which we are immensely proud. Norbrook has enjoyed sustained annual growth over the past number of years with a 10% growth in the past twelve months. What makes this achievement exceptionally impressive is that it has been achieved at a time of European and global recession when Europe was reporting a negative growth of approximately 5%.”
Norbrook, with its global headquarters in Newry, is currently engaged in a period of expansion and growth which has seen the company recruit 300 new staff in 2010 in an extensive recruitment drive which is still ongoing.
“Our expansion programme has resulted in an ongoing need for additional employees both in Newry and around the world,” adds Lord Ballyedmond. “We have already taken on 79 new staff so far this year and with a further 75,000 sq ft new manufacturing facility currently being added to our Carnbane, Newry factory, there will be further recruitment later this year.”
